If you’ve found yourself asking, are Rhi and Jeff still together? Brace yourself, the answer is no. Married At First Sight Australia’s golden couple, Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels, have split after nearly two years.
They were the last original pair standing from their season, which is exactly why fans have taken the news so hard. Both confirmed it themselves in matching heartfelt posts.
- Rhi, 36, and Jeff, 40, announced the split on 2 June in separate statements.
- They were the only original couple left from MAFS Australia’s 2025 series.
- The two had dated before being matched on the show.
- Fans smelt trouble when the pair unfollowed each other online.
- Reports blame a “lack of effort” for the romance fizzling out.
So, Are Rhi and Jeff Still Together?
They’re not, no. After about two years together and a freshly marked second anniversary, the couple have gone their separate ways. Both broke the news to their combined half a million-plus followers, and both described the decision as “incredibly difficult”.
Rhi didn’t sugar-coat it. “With a heavy heart, I want to share that Jeff and I have decided to part ways. This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” she wrote.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the love we shared and all of the memories we created. Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout our relationship and followed along with our journey. Your kindness means more than you know and I appreciate your respect and understanding as we move forward.”

Jeff expressed a similar sentiment on his page. “After a lot of thought, unfortunately, my relationship has ended. This has been an incredibly difficult time and I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can,” he wrote.
“I’m grateful for the memories and genuine love we shared over the years. Thank you for supporting our relationship, being part of our journey and respecting my privacy during this time.”

The Clues Fans Spotted First
Plenty of followers had worked it out before either of them said a thing. In the days before the announcement, the two quietly unfollowed each other and wiped their grids clean of loved-up selfies and MAFS throwbacks.
Then there were Rhi’s reflective posts, which read very differently now. As Nine pointed out, one slide said, “Choosing relationships that feel calm and safe. Not confusing inconsistency or mixed signals for love.”
Another read: “Learning to enjoy my own company. Not needing constant noise, plans or validation to feel okay.”
The comments lit up, with dozens flat-out asking if she’d broken up with Jeff. Here’s the bizarre bit: Jeff turned up under that same post, writing, “Love this” with applause emojis and Rhi clapped right back with her own.
Not exactly the vibe of a couple on the rocks, which had everyone scratching their heads. In hindsight, those lines about “inconsistency” and “mixed signals” look a lot more loaded than they first seemed.
What Went Wrong, Then?
Neither has spelt it out, but the theories are flying. Word is that the spark simply faded. Cosmopolitan flagged a source who told the Daily Mail the relationship fizzled because of a “lack of effort”, claiming, “Jeff was not putting in any effort with Rhi. They stopped going out on dates.” The pair had reportedly been living apart for a few weeks, with Jeff said to be off to the UK for work.

There’s a messier rumour doing the rounds too. The Sun reported the couple had been hit by a cheating scandal before they called it quits, though neither has spoken on those claims.
And one person apparently saw the split coming a mile off: Jeff’s ex-wife, Brooke Thomas. Jeff was married to Brooke from 2019 to 2021, after getting together back in 2013. Marie Claire reported that Brooke has privately drawn parallels between her break-up and the bumps Jeff and Rhi reportedly hit.
“Looking back, she feels her gut instinct was right,” a source told Women’s Day, adding that Brooke’s keeping her focus on family and won’t be airing any of it publicly. Communication, trust and long-term compatibility have all been mentioned as sticking points.

A Romance That Began Before the Show
Half the reason fans adored this pair is the daft, lovely way it all started. Rhi and Jeff weren’t strangers at the altar. They’d dated roughly 10 months before being matched, completely out of the blue, on Season 12 of the experiment.
The realisation hit the second Rhi started down the aisle. She froze on the spot, the guests started whispering, and Jeff just turned and went, “Hey, Rhi!” She replied, a little sheepish, “Hey Jeff.”
He later told the cameras: “She just came out of a long-term relationship, and I just came out of a relationship. We both sort of decided we were better off being single.”
First time around they’d “friend-zoned each other” and ended on good terms, which, funnily enough, made marrying one another far less awkward than wedding a total stranger. They were a proper slow burn, but once things clicked midway through the series, they cruised to the finish as the strongest, most unbothered couple of the lot.
They Were Building a Future Together
Once filming wrapped, things moved at pace. The two moved into a new Melbourne apartment, a step Jeff called a big one given how soon it came after the experiment.
They talked openly about what was next as well — Rhi said she’d “definitely want to have kids at some stage” and even revealed she’d spent the past year getting her body ready for a “future baby”.
Which is why this one really stings. Their split shuts the door on one of the most successful, genuinely wholesome love stories MAFS has thrown up in years and is a reminder that even the golden couples don’t always go the distance.
